Union says journalists are concerned at blurring of lines between editorial content and advertising

Conservative party election ads that were published on the front page of local newspapers last week have been heavily criticised by the National Union of Journalists and sparked a backlash among readers.

The adverts published in advance of the local elections were “clearly designed” to convey the impression that they were regular news stories, the NUJ said.
