Georgia Top Uncontested Divorce Attorneys Recommend Separating With Dignity

By Mary Thompson

Marriages aren't easy, and half of them don't work out the first time. If you decide to keep trying, the odds get worse each time you go to the altar. Divorces aren't easy either, and when there are substantial assets involved, things can get tense. There are benefits to splitting amicably however, that Georgia top uncontested divorce attorneys want you to know about.

Couples can save a lot of money by not contesting divorces. This can be easier for those who were not married long. Partners who have a long marital history often have joint assets that can be harder to agree upon when it comes to the division. It can be done however, if both parties feel that the results are equitable.

Divorces are stressful. When both partners are in agreement about most things, there is less drama and tension. Even sticky issues like child and pet custody can be worked out in harmony if everybody tries to behave like adults. Not only is this better for the couple involved, it helps all the members of the family.

If the partners are still talking to each other, and trying to cooperate, they are in control of the process. As long as they can make the decisions together, it isn't necessary for a third party, like a judge, to come in and decide who is going to get what. Once the court takes over, the parties can also lose control over child custody and other important considerations.

Anybody who thinks going to court is preferable to agreeing on things privately, has never been involved in a court case. There is nothing private about court. All the issues will be heard in front of spectators, clerks, and law enforcement. The judge will have the final say in how assets are divided and where minor children will live. It is much better if these issues can be decided privately between the two people involved.

Unfortunately children can be the most hurt when couples split up. They, effectively, lose one parent. They may have to move or live in reduced circumstances. Sometimes children act out, perform poorly in school, behave in self-destructive ways, or run away in an attempt to call attention to their distress. Sensitive parents can reduce the negative effects by working together, if only for the benefit of their children.

Unless you're a lawyer, there are really no such things as do-it-yourself divorces. You are still going to need a legal representative to handle the paperwork and push your case through the court system. When the case comes up before the judge, most individuals prefer to have a lawyer by their side to make sure everything goes smoothly and quickly.

Couples don't go into marriages expecting to split up. It takes a lot of work to stay in a relationship, and sometimes circumstances make that impossible. Amicable divorces are the best way to close the door and start over.
