National attack ads have given way to tailored messages playing on local concerns in closing stages of election campaigning

The major political parties have shifted their social media strategy in the final days of campaigning from general attack adverts to an array of tailored messages aimed at key marginal seats.

Social media has been a vital battleground in the election campaign with videos paid for by the leading parties viewed millions of times on Facebook. A Conservative attack advert featuring snippets from Jeremy Corbyn speeches has been watched more than 7m times.
