Everyone should try and do some or other form of sport as it not only keeps one healthy but also teaches how to interact with other people. It also helps many to accept how to be gracious when winning or losing. There are some people that still ask if there are any white privilege sports left but irrespective of color it is a sport where many still make friends no matter what the race might be.
Joining a sports team not only helps to improve one's confidence but also helps one to work and if need be to fight for what they believe in. It teaches one to learn how to accept criticism and to also recognize all their weaknesses as well as strengths. The most important aspect is that everyone can learn how to become a team player and try ones best if not for themselves but for the other members.
The amount of physical activities that one does will depend on ones age and level of fitness. Starting off slow is better than not doing anything even if it means only walking up the road to the shops and back again. Everyone has to start off somewhere and as the days progress so will the level of energy increase.
A good book that all should read is the Shades of White, an examination of whiteness in sports. It is about one hundred and three pages long and was published the end of November twenty ten. It is available on line as was written by Jonathan Long and Kevin Hylton.
Skateboarding is a great sport that involves many complicated tricks and is also considered a job as well as a means of transportation. When it first became popular it was considered to be a white's only sport but that is now being changed by William Lee Lamar. He has been doing surfing and skateboarding for over twenty two years and he is now bringing his passion to people of his own race.
Finances could play a part in the decision as many clubs will require a membership fee monthly. It is also important not to become bored with the sport as one will soon lose interest and not want to carry on. When joining a gym it might be a hassle and one might not want to feel like attending but once one has arrived and started the routine it will be worth the effort.
The first magazine for this sport was published in nineteen sixty four by the Quarterly Skateboarder. There were unfortunately only four issues ever printed but eleven years later they did manage to resume the publication. When this was finally recognized and considered a sport for competitions there were only two disciplines and they were the slalom and freestyle.
The freestyle is the oldest style and was very popular in the nineteen sixties and then again in the nineteen nineties. This is best done when there is music and during the years the flat surfaces have fallen away to having steps as well as banisters to ride on. The slalom is when the riders go down a hill weaving through a course of plastic cones.
