While most churches believe in prayers, there are fewer which believe in a meditative process. While this is the case, Biblical Christian Meditation Institute is working to make the practice more accepted in the Christian faith. Birthed out of the God as Christian Ministry, the goal is to make a bigger impact on churches in the 21st century. In the process, the hope is that more individuals will grow closer to God. One way in which the church is attempting to do is through a Christian Meditation Webinar.
As the doctrine is and has been neglected by the Christian churches of past and present, it is also hoped that these efforts will rebirth the practice at a number of institutions. BCMI focuses on a number of classes, workshops and seminars related to the art of Christian meditation. In the process, the institute hopes that other churches will follow suit and incorporate meditative practices on an ongoing basis.
In the Christian realm, the practice is seen as a method of developing and strengthening the relationship between God and the individual. Like with other forms, the individual sits quietly, attempting to let go of any thoughts or concerns to clear the mind. Once the mind is clear, it is believed it is easier for the individual to communicate with God. After which, most individuals begin practicing on a daily basis which builds a bond between the individual and the Holy Spirit.
Studies show that only a small percentage of Christians truly know how to be in the presence of God through a meditative process. As such, only a small percent are actually using the power provided to access the presence of God. While this is the case, those whom can connect with God in this manner often have calmer, stress-free lives.
There are many different practices including Zen, Karmic, Hindu and others. As might be expected, Christians only believe in a biblical form connected to the Christian religion. In most cases, those whom do practice refer back to the Biblical command God gave to Joshua. As the story comes from the Bible, most whom do meditate I the church often have a focus of God and scripture as a pretext for doing so.
The pastor of BCMI is at the forefront of bringing meditative practices back into the Christian realm. In the process, it is hoped that all interested will learn how to meditate and pray based on Christian practices and principles. After which, these individuals will be able to commune with God on a daily or as-needed basis whether at, or, outside of church at the time.
The pastor is also an author, teacher and holds several advanced degrees. These include, a Bachelor's of Arts and a Honorary Doctorate from Allen University in South Carolina. Dr. Hamilton also holds a Doctorate degree in Philosophy, and a Doctorate and Master's of Theology from the Gulf Coast Theological Seminary in Panama Beach, Florida. As a result, the pastor provides a great deal of services to the community and all those involved in the church.
The reverend also serves as Rhema Bible College Chancellor in Summerville, South Carolina, and Chief Operating Officer at Successful Living Learning Institute. While overseeing the Bible College, the reverend teaches a number of classes in-person and online through the institute. Whether attending classes online, or at the institute, most students report having discovered knowledge, power and enlightenment in the process.
