Are free markets more important than free speech? We arenāt supposed to ask such questions because each of those libertarian goals was supposed to reinforce the other. But they clearly donāt, so itās time to take a closer look at what āfreedomā really means in Australia today.
Alan Jones has been using his freedom to insult and disparage again. After telling his listeners that the then prime minister Julia Gillardās father had ādied of shameā back in 2012, and that she should be ātied in a chaff bag, taken to sea and dumpedā, he recently urged Prime Minister Scott Morrison to āshove a sock down the throatā of the New Zealand prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, and to give her a ābackhanderā in another on-air rant.
